Touch tree bark
Have you ever hugged a tree? If you haven’t hugged a tree give the next tree you see a big hug, if you have hugged a tree before do it again! How did the tree’s bark feel, what color was it, did it have a special smell? What else did you notice about the tree’s bark? Hug a different kind of tree – is its bark the same? Why do you think trees have bark? Is the bark on big old trees the same as the bark on young trees? Maybe you could make a scrapbook of bark rubbings from different types of trees.
